Sample Prep

Please dilute all samples in:

  1. 10 mM Tris pH 7-8,
  2. TLE (10 mM Tris pH 7-8, + ~0.2 mM EDTA pH 8),
  3. High quality pure water (generally fine, but gives the shortest shelf life), or
  4. For RNA – please use 0.1% DEPC treated water or commercial RNAse free water.

Scheduling is a major endeavor.  We have a system in place to get researchers’ projects through as quickly as possible, while also combing samples in ways that reduce costs and run-times as much as possible for everyone.  Because this system requires the orchestration of samples and materials from multiple sources, it will break-down from time to time.  We will do our best to provide users with realistic estimates of delivery dates for data, but all times are estimates.

Please e-mail us to schedule an experiment.  We are working toward an automated sample entry and scheduling system, but it will be some time until it is complete.

We understand that users will want to use a “just in time” approach to deliver samples.  However, failure to deliver samples on time can result in significant problems for multiple users. Users should deliver samples 2 to 3 weeks ahead of the scheduled run time.  Users not able to deliver samples 2 weeks ahead of scheduled run times will risk being bumped by other users.  Because bumped users will have a specific amount of a plate reserved (e.g., a quarter plate), we will use the next sample with that amount reserved.  Thus, it is to users benefit to deliver samples sooner rather than later (because they may be the only other person available who wants a ¼ run, for example).
